You are a survivor the day you get diagnosed.
Throughout the month of June we honor National Cancer Survivors Month. SVMC recently spoke with six survivors, who are current and former patients of the Dartmouth Cancer Center, Bennington.
Each shared their unique journeys and advice to others facing similar diagnoses.
Special thanks to these incredible individuals, for sharing their story:
- Joana Genova of Manchester, VT – artistic director of Taconic Music and professor at Bennington College and Williams College.
- Julie Case, an employee of SVMC and recent skydiving enthusiast
- Wendy Klein-Faller of Pownal, VT, facilitator of the local Multiple Myeloma Support Group
- Leslie and Mike Bacon, of Peru, VT, who have been navigating their individual diagnoses as a couple
- Harold Rowe, an area resident who has become well-known at the cancer center as the “rose man.”
Watch their stories:
We’ll be sharing more of their individual stories in the future and at the Summer Gala on June 21, as SVMC marks the groundbreaking for the new Hoyt-Hunter Center for Oncology Care at Dartmouth Cancer Center, Bennington.
