For the 1,400 people working throughout the Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC) system, the challenges faced last year battling the ongoing pandemic revealed a character defined by resilience, integrity, resourcefulness, a deep commitment to caring, and a consistent drive to do the right thing.

Those qualities enabled the entire healthcare system to not just continue operating throughout an undeniably tough time but to meaningfully advance the quality of care and service provided on numerous levels. As a result, these efforts were recognized and honored by some of the most prestigious national and international healthcare organizations and associations.

Accolades of this caliber are not easy to achieve in the best of times. And yet, in what could easily be considered the worst health crisis in a century, the entire SVHC team repeatedly found new and inspired ways to deliver the care that was needed and did so without ever compromising the level of quality or compassion that defines the organization.

We are extremely proud of all that was accomplished in 2021 and of the individuals who made it possible. It is our pleasure to share stories that showcase the quality of character that allowed us to be at our best even when things were at their worst.
