Employees honored for exemplifying SVMC values

SVMC recently honored five employees for embodying the values of quality, empathy, stewardship, teamwork and safety. 

The Putnam Awards are a long-standing tradition at SVMC, celebrating employees who live the local values. The awards were announced on May 13, during National Hospital Week. 

The honorees are: 

Quality – Katelyn O'Neill MS,CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist: Kate exemplifies teamwork and quality in her efforts as demonstrated by her work in outpatient services, inpatient and the community.

Empathy – Deb Malachuk, RN, Med-Surg: This nominee is an exceptional nurse whose daily actions demonstrate compassion, kindness, and emotional support.

Stewardship – Hattie Jowett, Lead Ultrasound Tech: Hattie has dedicated the past year or so to making meaningful improvements within the Ultrasound department, creating an environment that attracts full-time sonographers while reducing our reliance on contracted staff.

Teamwork – Katelyn O'Neill MS,CCC-SLP,, Environmental Services: Rodney consistently steps outside of his formal responsibilities to support others across departments. 

Safety – Kim Webster, RN, Patient Advocate and Risk Manager: Kim has demonstrated a deep understanding that safety in healthcare is not a single action or protocol, but a system of thoughtful processes, education and a shared culture of accountability.
