Prevent Drug Misuse on National Take Back Day, April 27

Every day is Take Back Day at SVMC

DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is your chance to rid your medicine cabinet of unneeded and unwanted medications. During last April’s Take Back Day, over 663,700 pounds of unwanted medications were turned in safely and anonymously at nearly 5,000 sites nationwide, including one at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC).

Since its installation at SVMC, the MedSafe collection box has facilitated retrieval of over 2,600 pounds of unwanted and expired medications. The very first collection was conducted on August 16, 2017, and SVMC is the first non-law enforcement 24-hour disposal location in the state of Vermont.

To find a location near your, visit DEATakeBack and enter your zip code.

If you’re unable to participate on April 27, you can still take advantage of year-round drop-off locations.
