Director of Public Policy Programs at Bennington College’s Center for the Advancement of Public Action
Brian Campion is the Director of Public Policy Programs at Bennington College’s Center for the Advancement of Public Action where he facilitates all programs and initiatives connected to state and federal policy and teaches. He is also serving as the Interim Director of the MFA in Public Action for the 2026-2027 academic year. Campion’s current courses include: Journalism and Democracy, Becoming Educated in Vermont, and The Midterm Elections—Possibilities and Limitations. Campion served in the Vermont State Senate from 2014-2024, after first serving two terms in the Vermont House of Representatives in 2010 and 2012. As State Senator, Campion served as the Chair of the Senate Committee on Education, Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Energy and Chair of the Senate Committee on Ethics. He also served a member of the Senate Committee on Finance and the Senate Committee on Agriculture Campion was appointed by Governor Phil Scott to the Vermont State Board of Education in
2025 to a six-year term. Campion is currently working on his PhD in history. His Most Recent Article, “Harvard’s Charles Homer Haskins and the 1919 Paris Peace Conference” was published in the August 2026 issue of the Massachusetts Historical Journal. Campion served as a trustee of the Bennington Museum, the Bennington Housing Authority and Green Mountain Transport.
