There’s more to preparing for surgery or a procedure than simply arriving on the day of your procedure. Perioperative Services provides you with guidance, support, and high-level care before, during, and after the procedure or surgery, to ensure the best patient experience and surgical outcomes.
From the moment you and your physician decide on surgery, to the moment you leave the hospital, our perioperative services team never stops caring for you.
Our team includes members who conduct preoperative teaching, surgical intake, the operating room procedures, post anesthesia care, endoscopy, medical ambulatory care, and sterile processing. Together, we ensure that every aspect of your inpatient or outpatient procedure is handled with expertise and compassion.
Beginning with scheduling your procedure and reviewing preparation instructions, through providing the highest level of surgical care and post-op recovery, our team is with you at every step. It’s a patient-centered approach to care that our patients appreciate and others recognize. In fact, our ambulatory service was honored to receive Studer’s Award for Excellence in Patient Care. Southwestern Vermont Medical Center is one of only three hospitals to be recognized with this award nationwide.
