A hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for hospitalized patients. A member of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center's (SVMC’s) hospital medicine team follows your care from the moment you enter the hospital to the moment you leave—and often beyond—ensuring that the quality and continuity of your care is the absolute best it can be.
SVMC’s hospital medicine team is made up of board-certified physicians in either internal medicine or family medicine. Working closely with providers in every department of the hospital, they provide medical consultation, practice evidence-based medicine, and coordinate patient care at any time of the day or night. Because they’re on site, our hospital medicine team is able to follow up on diagnostic tests quickly and develop treatment plans more efficiently.
